Scientific name: Naemorhedus cranbrooki
Illustrious name: Red Goral
Classification: Artiodactyla Ox family
Distribution: Tibet, Yunnan, India, Assum, Burma.
   
The Red Goral inhabits alpine woods at elevations of 4,500 meters. It is usually active at dawn and dusk and its diet consists of grasses, tender branches, buds, fruit and lichen. The mating season is from October-December and after a gestation period of about 6 months one offspring is produced around the month of June. The Red Goral is a National first-class protected animal.
